An AI-powered IoT smart office dashboard and Discord bot that monitors real-time room power consumption and automates remote energy management seamlessly

The problem

In corporate office environments, employees frequently leave high-power electrical appliances like lights and fans running after work hours or during extended absences. This structural negligence leads to astronomical electricity bills, unnecessary carbon footprints, and unmonitored energy waste. The primary challenge is that company administrators and managers lack a centralized, real-time mechanism to monitor room-by-room consumption levels or device statuses without physically inspecting the premises. Furthermore, existing building management systems provide complex, raw data dumps that are difficult for non-technical stakeholders to interpret instantly. Without an accessible, interactive interface or a humanized notification layer that alerts teams about anomalous usage outside office hours, organizations continue to lose significant revenue to invisible energy drains.

The solution

EcoGrid resolves this pressing inefficiency through an integrated IoT and AI-driven infrastructure monitoring framework. The system operates on a single shared backend ecosystem to deliver absolute data synchronization across all user touchpoints. Hardware Architecture & Telemetry Simulation: The core relies on simulated ESP32 microcontrollers mapped with virtual current sensors to track live wattage draw and operational states across distinct rooms. Real-Time Web Dashboard: Built with React and optimized with WebSockets, the front-end features a live floor layout mapping interactive glowing lights and animated fans powered by Framer Motion. It provides immediate data grids showing total office consumption versus per-room metrics without manual webpage refreshes. An automated Active Alerts Panel instantly flags anomalies, such as appliances running past 5 PM or vacant rooms drawing excess power. Conversational AI Discord Bot: Rather than forcing administrators to continuously check a web browser, EcoGrid integrates a dedicated Discord bot communicating with a shared backend node. Utilizing the Gemini API, the bot humanizes system analytics, converting raw device states into friendly, contextual natural language summaries. Through simple commands like !status, !room, or !usage, stakeholders can review metrics or change states instantly. Additionally, the bot proactively pushes localized notifications directly to Discord channels the second a safety or energy alert condition triggers after hours.
