Protidhwani: A community-powered safety intelligence platform for reporting incidents, verifying information, accessing emergency support and staying connected during crises.
The problem
In Bangladesh, citizens often face critical information gaps during everyday emergencies and civic crises. When violence, accidents, natural disasters, or rights violations occur, people struggle to find verified updates, report incidents effectively, warn others in real time, or coordinate help from their actual neighbors. Mainstream social media spreads information quickly, but it is built for engagement, not safety : algorithms amplify outrage, rumors outrun facts, and there is no reliable way to know what is truly happening on the ground. Rural and semi-urban communities are especially affected because their voices rarely reach wider networks, and local incidents disappear into noisy global feeds. The result is a dangerous delay between an event and collective action, leaving individuals isolated when they most need trusted, location-based civic support.
The solution
Protidhwani (প্রতিধ্বনি) is a citizen-powered civic network built specifically for Bangladesh, designed to close that gap by combining real-time safety tools, verified information flows, and community-driven action in one purpose-built platform. It puts citizens at the center of civic safety through a community intelligence map that shows incident density and safety conditions from the division level down to individual streets, so users can plan safer routes and understand risks in their area. A one-tap SOS system broadcasts live location to nearby community members and emergency contacts, while blood alerts help connect patients with nearby donors instantly. Citizens can report incidents with photos and location, submit claims for verification with source links, and track those claims through a transparent status timeline. The community feed is scoped by real geography : district, upazila, and union , so people see what matters around them rather than what an algorithm selects. Direct messaging, friend requests, public profiles, legal rights resources, and protest coordination with offline message queuing make the platform a complete civic toolkit. Every feature is built with Bangla-first bilingual design, transparent verification, and fairness at its core, turning passive scrolling into active, accountable civic participation.

Third-Party Attribution
Protidhwani is built using open-source frameworks, libraries, and cloud services provided by their respective communities and organizations. All third-party components are used according to their respective licenses and attribution requirements.
No proprietary pretrained AI model is currently integrated into the platform. AI tools were used as development assistants, while all final implementation decisions, code modifications, and system integrations were reviewed and validated by the team.
